Modern turbocharged direct injection engines are designed with fuel systems optimized for factory power levels.
When increasing engine output through ECU tuning, turbo upgrades, higher boost pressure, or ethanol fuel applications, the factory high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) may become a limitation due to insufficient fuel delivery capacity.
